HULA MAKAHÄ
EMBODIEDÂ STORYTELLING AS ENTRY
Hula is connection.
Connection to spirit.
Connection to the gods.
Connection to ancestry, land, story, rhythm,
and the heartbeat of the Hawaiian people.
Prayer in motion.
Embodied storytelling.
An entry into the deeper essence, foundations,
and understandings of Hula.
WHAT IS HULA?
Hula gives movement to story and story to movement.
It carries prayer, discipline, memory, observation, presence, and relationship through the body.
To approach Hula only as performance is to stand at the doorway and never enter the house.
Movement alone is not the centre.
Connection is.

WHAT COMES NEXTÂ
Hula is one of the three pathways within Mana O Kahiko.
It is developed through ongoing training, practice, discipline, and relationship over time.
Hula MakahÄ is the gateway.
The next step is Ka Papa â The Foundations of Mana O Kahiko.
Foundation before pathway.
